This is just a simple guide, I do not intend to list 101 things to do….just something for all to look into when selling or buying..
Seller checklist
1) Be specific on the product you want to sell, put in as much information as possible (age, price when new etc). Add a picture where as possible, truly, a picture is worth a thousand words.
2) Let the buyer know the condition of the product truthfully.
3) Make known to the Buyer what difficulties he will face or what to look out for during installation if any.
4) Don’t go fishing…there is no such thing as “maybe want to sell”, you either do or you don’t.
5) Price your product right to sell!
6) Remember…answer all the enquiries (even stupid ones) with a nice tone of voice. Your service level is also a considering factor for the Buyer.
Buyer List
1) Ask yourself, do you really want to buy? Before calling or sending SMS to the seller.
2) Do your due diligence, find out as much about what you want to buy as possible.
3) When you do call or SMS, please identify yourself to the Seller.
4) Do not ask question which are not related to this sale.
5) Remember the Seller just wants to sell the product and he will be annoyed when treated like an information counter.
6) Do not bargain if you are not keen to buy.
The reason I post this is because, after speaking to a few Brothers. I realized that lots of Buyers sent tons of SMS and calls to the Seller, bargain like no tomorrow, confirmed the deal and decide to cancel the deal.
Similarly, there are lots of Sellers, who after posting their sale, did not response to those keen to buy or did not follow through after agreeing to the Sale.
For a sale to go well, both parties must do their part.
Do not let Selling or Buying matters jeopardize your standing in the forum.
